F'n joke...and I am not bitching about Albany.

SHSU- still in the top 10....REALLY!?
Harvard- that Brown game was a joke.

Coaches are f'in idiots

Montana ranked, but NAU not?

No Albany?

The bottom 5 is really bunched up. I faced similar issues with my own ballot this week. I believe that Albany and NAU earned their spots this week though. And I wouldn't have put UCA over The Citadel. The Citadel has played a top ten schedule and should be rewarded for that effort, even with their loss to NC State.

You said it Jon. Agreed completely.

Montana and Central Ark are real eyeraisers for me as well. And I watched that Harvard/Brown game...and both teams would be smoked by NAU, Albany, Tenn State, SDSU, UND and would probably lose to Maine and Lafayette.

How much would Albany's ranking change if it was the exact same team with the exact same resume but in the CAA this year instead of next?

And what have we done to merit #9, not to mention 6 spots ahead of a team that beat us? I guess the coaches (or whoever votes for them) don't have time to pay attention. At least I feel a lot better about voting in the AGS poll after looking at this.

AGS is always the most accurate...I concur Eaglerus

How is YSU not #1 based on their body of work so far?

Everyone has to remember that it is usually NOT the coaches voting but their SI people. Coaches don't have the time to consider what the other FCS schools did the day before, other than the one they played and the one on deck.

What about JMU being 9 spots ahead of The Citadel? Same record, but Cit's wins are far more impressive. I get what you mean, but what more could NDSU do?

If YSU was the defending champs, absolutely no doubt they would be a unanimous #1. If The Citadel returned tons from a playoff team last season they would be where JMU is, imo.

Using the above info and your argument, why is EKU only ranked 19 & 20 in these polls?
1. Same record as teams mentioned 3-1
2. tons of returning players,
3. Playoff team last year
4. lost to JMU on a late fieldgoal in the playoff
5. JMU ranked 5-6 in same polls
And:
6. Just manhandled JSU (51-21), a ranked team last couple of weeks.

I am not saying EKU should be ranked higher than either The Citadel or JMU, but using your arugumenat, we should be higher than 19/20.

Where does beating one of the worst teams in the Pioneer at home by only 7 factor into the justification for EKU to be "higher than 19/20?" I'm thinking that may factor in to his decision.

1. You missed the part where he said El Cid's wins are far more impressive
2. Many teams are returning lots of players
3. Playoff team booted in the 1st round at home
4. See above
5. JMU may be a little overrated due to resume, but perhaps not factoring in where ppl see them going
6. JSU was only ranked due to a 3 pt win against UTC, who ppl thought were going to be good this year. They aren't.

No excuses for that one. It certainly looks bad and does not help rank. However, I don't think that game is a representation of what this team can do. As far as what I said, my point was if last years playoffs, JMU (who yes we lost to on a end of the game field goal) is ranked 4/5, having most of your players back and being 3-1 made an ARGUMENT for a team ranking of 4 or 5, then EKU at 19/20 might be a tad too low. That said, rankings only matter for one reason, seeding in the playoffs. Otherwise they mean squat. It is where you finish at the end of the playoffs...the national championship game...is all that matters. Anything else, anyone else is an also ran.
