Illinois State -- can they hold USD to 108 total yards this year....again
Indiana State -- Bell will easily go over 100 in this game
NDSU -- NDSU's defense is good. Close game but Bison win by 10
SDSU -- Home game against MSU....blowout.

ILL St - the Birds are seemingly for real, but they still have yet to face the elite tier
SIU - I think Southern is too talented of a program to be at the bottom of the MVFC and just losing to SDSU has taken a lot out of IND St, which will be middle of the pack with SIU
UNI - BLASPHAMY!!! I know, I know. But UNI is backed into a win or stay home for the playoffs corner, the game is in Iowa and NDSU needs a loss on the season to keep humble. Just listen to my master plan guys, it will all work out.
SDSU - shouldn't be too much trouble for the Jacks

UNI can still make the playoffs if they lose this weekend. They still have a shot of going 6-2 in the league and winning the autobid. Even saying that though, that would be quite the long shot if they lost to YSU and NDSU to win the tiebreaker and the league.

ISU-r* (1-0 4-0) @ USD (0-0 1-2) - Game will be far closer than some are indicating, with chance of Yote upset; Redbirds by 1-4 pts.
ISU-b (0-1 2-2) @ SIU (1-0 2-2) - The home loss to SDSU motivates the Indiana St.; Trees by 3-7 pts.
NDSU* (0-0 3-0) @ UNI (0-1 0-3) - UNI is fortunate to be at home, or this one would be uglier; Bison by 10-14 pts.
MSU (0-1 0-4) @ SDSU (1-0 3-1) - I feel MSU is better than most are giving them credit; Jacks by 13-17 pts.

+1, Plus, I don't think SDSU is the kind of team to really blow anybody out this year.

Very unlikely.
A 7-4 UNI will make the playoffs. I would take a 6-5 UNI also.

A home game against a poor MSU (as it looks now) team with your running game really 'clicking'.....this is a blow-out.

I sure hope you are right, but we'll see... Our passing game is going to have to come alive for this to turn into a "blow out", but I think Sumner is due for a breakout game like we became accustomed to seeing last year.

a 6-5 would only have 5 D-1 wins. that wont cut it

for UNI to win the conference after a loss to ndsu, YSU and NDSU would both have to drop 3 games, which is not going to happen.

SIU (0-0 1-2) @ MSU (0-0 0-3).. 27-14. Southern Illinois is improving each week as their QB gains more confidence
SDSU (0-0 2-1) @ ISU-b (0-0 1-1).. 17-14.. SDSU will stack the box and keep Bell contained
USD (0-0 1-1) @ Northwestern* (3-0) 28-13.. Northwestern pulls away in 2nd half
Prairie View A&M (0-3) @ NDSU* (0-0 2-0) .. They'll be generous and win 45-3
ISU-r* (0-0 3-0) @ WIU (0-0 1-1) another win for the Redbirds.. They are the sleeper in this conference 31-17
UNI (0-0 0-2) @ YSU* (0-0 3-0) should be the best game of the week.. Because penguins are at home and the homer bias I will say Guins sneak it out and score 31 for the 3rd time this year.. 31-28
Those were my first picks last week.. See if I can stay perfect...

Winner for week 5:
Illinois State--by 2 scores
Indiana State--barely.. They are just too one dimensional to win this game easily
Northern Iowa--by 1 score
South Dakota State-- by 2 scores

YSU and NDSU would have to lose 3 conference games for that to happen. Otherwise NDSU and YSU would hold the tiebreaker over UNI at 6-2 and still win it.
The likely hood of both teams losing 3 conference games probably is pretty low. If UNI wins out starting this week its a whole other animal though.

Ya, you are right. But I would put them in the playoffs.
But historically the selection committee won't, so it doesn't really matter what you would do.

As others have noted, NDSU and YSU would have to lose three conference games which is unlikely for that to happen to both.
The only way I could see it would be if there was a five way tie at the top with NDSU, UNI, YSU, SDSU and ILL St. Each of those teams would be 2-2 against the other four.
Problem with that is ILL St and SDSU don't play each other this year.
So that said, if UNI loses to NDSU this weekend and with the win over Central St not counting, they can only go at best 6-4 in the committee's eyes. I don't think that can get in.

LOL....no sh** captain obvious. I'm just saying that a 6-5 UNI team would be a very good one that could beat a lot of playoff teams. I know the selection committee will not take them but I would.

6-4 you mean. They have a subDI game that doesn't even exist as far as the playoffs are concerned.
Unless you mean 5-5. Winning out gives UNI a 7-3 division I record.

5-1 last week puts me at 29-5 for the season. Okay onto MFVC week #5:
Winners:
Redbirds

Bison
Jacks
Other than the Jacks at home, IMHO think the other 3 games should be very competitive. MVFC = TOUGH every week...YES! xbowx

Illinois St @ South Dakota - USD will probably be looking for some payback for last year but I doubt they'll get it.
Indiana St @ Southern Illinois - Not sure whether the Sycs lost last week cuz they're that bad or if SDSU is that good, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
North Dakota St @ Northern Iowa - I think UNI moves the ball well on the Bison but struggles to finish drives and Kollmorgen has a couple crucial turnovers. Bison 31 Panthers 20.
Missouri St @ South Dakota St - Zenner has another field day as the Jacks stays hot.

I still think a 7-1 or a 6-2 vs. FCS would be quite an impressive stat toward the comittee, especially in a expanded playoff year. Could see one of the first 6 win teams get in.
