BATON ROUGE -- On Wednesday at noon CT, LSU Athletics Director Skip Bertman will be joined by baseball head coach Paul Mainieri and softball head coach Yvette Girouard to unveil the renderings of the new Alex Box Stadium as well as LSU’s new softball park.

Artist renderings to be available here (http://www.makeyourpitch.net/?DB_OEM_ID=5200) after the noon press conference.

---------------
This is a big deal down here in Baton Rouge among the LSU faithful as the baseball program tries to get back on track as the dominant program it was in the 90s. Also, it signifies the school's commitment to women's sports as they give one of the top teams in the SEC a state-of-the-art facility.

[1] Steal them from a drunk during tailgating between Wednesday night and the kickoff.

[2] Mug someone for them.

[3] Find a student with extra tickets that you kind of look like and use their ID to get into the student section.

[4] Pray.

[5] Have a great-grandfather that bought season tickets since the dawn of time that passed them down to your grandfather, father and now you.

[6] Get on the waiting list.

Artist rendering of the planned Alex Box Stadium on LSU's campus to replace the original stadium by the same name. The stadium is designed to be larger than the original, with more tailgating areas/parking and to blend in more with the Italian Rennaisance architecture of the majority of the campus.

Also unveiled was an artist rendering of the new softball complex, Tiger Park. This will be a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in the Italian Rennaissance style with a levee in the outfield.

It's not something one can plan on but, back in the 1980s when I was dating my wife to be, we walked to the stadium from her apartment in "Tigerland" holding our fingers in the air to indicate that we wanted tickets. We did that twice, and both times we got tickets somebody wanted to sell. One was to the 1983 U of Washington game; which held the record for largest crowd in Tiger Stadium until it was expanded during the 1990s. So I think there's a pretty good chance of getting them by just showing up and looking for somebody who wants to sell some but, of course no guarantees.

For a I-AA angle: I've tried the "finger in the air" thing to get tickets three times in my life. The third time was at Nicholls State for a Southern game. It was a lot harder to get a ticket there than it was at the aforementioned LSU games because it's a small stadium and there were so many Southern fans there. I ended up getting one but I was really starting to wonder. And it would've been real tough to get two.

My boss is an LSU season ticket holder and LSU grad but sells his tickets every year because he lives in vegas now.

I just called LSU and they said you can buy individual game tickets on line but that doesn't start until August. You can get on a notification e mail list so that you know when they go on sale. Go to http://www.lsusports.net/ , click on "Tickets," and select "Geaux Mail."
