ACC Expected to Announce New Bowl Order
By Mark Schlabach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After Boston College finished 9-3 in its first season in the ACC last season and ended up playing Boise State in the MPC Computers Bowl in not-so-balmy Boise, the ACC spent the offseason reviewing how its teams would be selected for future bowl games.

Seems to make sense. That really sucks for a school like BC (or anyone for that matter) to go 9-3 overall (5-3 ACC) in a conference like the ACC and get shipped off to Boise, Idaho for the bowl season.....not really what I would consider as an reward?!

This will happen in all BCS conferences soon enough

I've never understood why an ACC team would go to Boise anyway. It seems to me that they would try and get affiliated with bowl games closer to ACC country, not all the way ouot there. I might be wrong.

On the other hand, going 5-3 in conference in I-AA would probably mean being home for Christmas.:twocents:

$%*# 'em! It's Boston "Hey, we're stupid and going to kill our travel budget by leaving the Big East" College anyways! The only time I want BC to win now is when they're playing Notre Dame. Otherwise, they can rot in hell! :D

Yeah, but that's what 8 million bowl games will do for you. The addition of all of these games like the Houston Bowl, the San Diego County Employees Credit Union, Barber Shop and Lawn Service Bowl or the I'm in a Crappy Conference But Feel Left Out So Create a New Bowl For Me Bowl , the entire bowl system has become watered-down.

Agreed. I wish they would cut the number of bowls down to at least twenty if not less. With that system, UVA probably wouldn't have gone bowling last year but I could really care less. But making a bowl game now is so over-rated it really has no special meaning outside of the BCS bowls and the few traditional ones like the Cotton Bowl. I mean, if I-A isn't going to have a playoff, make the bowls somewhat meaningful for goodness sake. I know, I know, money is what it is all about.

The incentive is now to go 6-5 or now 7-5, not try and go 10-2

Personally, I don't consider going 6-5 in the Sunbelt Conference as all that successful of a season when 5 of those wins came against FAU, FIU and Sister Mary's Poorhouse for the Blind, Deaf, Mute and Stupid.xcoffeex

I don't consider 6-5 in any conference that impressive, b/c there are cupcakes in every conference

Got mixed feelings about that Blur. I was at the ignaugural Tire Bowl in Charlotte a few years back to watch the Hoos kick the snot out of them hillbillies from WV. We laughed at the notion of a Tire Bowl, but the crowd set a stadium record and it was one of the best experiences I've had at a I-A game.
