On Saturday Tennessee State topped Austin Peay in the first Conference game of the season. Eastern Kentucky and Murray State picked up road non-conference wins, while Eastern Illinois (in two overtimes), Southeast Missouri and Tennessee Tech (to FBS No. 4 Oregon) lost on the road.
