DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University and North Carolina Central University announced on Thursday four future dates for the Bull City Gridiron Classic football series. The Blue Devils and Eagles, who will meet this Saturday at 7 p.m., are scheduled to meet on the gridiron again in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 at Duke’s Wallace Wade Stadium.

"We are extremely excited about our extended contact with Duke University,” said NCCU Director of Athletics Dr. Ingrid Wicker-McCree. “This is a great opportunity to showcase two of Durham's finest universities on the gridiron for the next few years. The camaraderie that has been established through current collaborative academic and community efforts between Duke and NCCU, will be further enhanced by the continuing opportunity for our students, fans, and alumni to fellowship and cheer their team on during this multi-year event."

Separated in Durham by approximately three miles, Duke and NCCU have met just once in football. The Blue Devils posted a 49-14 victory on Sept. 26, 2009 at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Long time lurker, finally registered here. I've been a Duke fan my whole life (basketball and *gulp* football) and am a Liberty alum. As far as the series goes, yeah they SHOULD (no win is taken for granted at Duke right now) be wins but the series with NCCU is much deeper than that. It is a great add for the Duke program because it helps them bridge the gap in the local Durham community, which they desperately need support from. Duke has always been a little island by itself in Durham and hasn't been in touch with the community until about the past decade, this was showcased during the whole Duke lacrosse fiasco a few years ago. This is a great series for Duke, NCCU, and the city they share!
