Gallaudet, the only school fielding deaf players in football, endured a 106-year long losing streak to Catholic University of America (CUA). This finally ended last Saturday when the Bison beat the Cardinals 47-27.

Congrats to Gallaudet.
SI had an article about Gallaudet years ago- at that time they would beat a drum on the sideline to give the cadence to hike the ball. The players evidently could feel the vibrations.
I officiated a JV game that the Minnesota School of the Deaf played. They watched the ball and I believe only jumped early once. Our guys were worried before the game that they might hurt them??????????? It turned out to be the other way around. They couldn't hear but they sure could hit.

Remember the movie, "The Replacements?" The story had the game winning TE, Brian Murphy, as a Gallaudet alum.

Congrats to Gallaudet...a big monkey off their back. I have gome to a couple of SCSDB (SC School for the Deaf and Blind) games in Spartanburg. Those are some really great kids who enjoy football just as much as anyone else, and I like to see them get after it!
