New era for Eastern Illinois.

Southern Illinois trying to get back to their old ways. Salukis have more talent, but some big unknowns in this one

wow.....EIU with an interception

As sloppy as it gets. SIU looks like last year. Not getting the big plays (should have had a pick 6 a few plays before EIU TD) and turnovers. Oh well, its early.

At this rate though, I'll be choosing to go watch Bellevue-Trinity in a powerhouse HS game once this game hits half.

That's better. Stop on 4&2 at midfield

If you were taking a drink for ever penalty/miscue you wouldn't see halftime. Roughing the passer and face mask penalties have SIU in red zone

My bad, meh beh I should read threads a little more before I post haha.

Regarding SDSU: Before Sumner was hurt, I felt like they had a decent chance to beat Kansas, but now I'm not sure. One of my buddies was talking about their situation and he felt as though their QB depth wasn't exactly the deep end of the pool... Other than that, I know nothing about their QB's...

+1, I'll be going to the Kansas game and since Sumner got hurt I'm more excited about the experience than a possible upset. Sumner is the only QB that isn't a freshman, and he is a sophomore.

Went to the the game and had a pretty good time. Good to get a win, but it was very sloppy by both teams. Very cartoon-ish at times. Garoppolo was very good in the pocket, dumping off the ball, has a great arm. I like the new hurry up offense and the defense did a pretty good job overall.

They are better than last year but we made the QB look like a world beater by giving him 10 seconds to throw. This one is on the coaching staff and only on them. They were taken to church in every phase of the game. They made no attempt at adjustment at the half and left the DBs 10 yds back in a prevent instead of trying to blitz or change the receivers routes and disrupt the timing of the offense; the pass rush was non existent because we were completely out-schemed. Across the ball our play calling was embarrassingly bad in so many ways. We knew the o line was young and they'll be a lot better at the end of the season, like NDSU a few years ago, but after wearing out the QB keeper the past two seasons the decision has apparently been made that the only way to get it to our fast guys is with a bubble screen. Not to mention that Strother got more carries than McCall who was looking like Jewel Hampton when he ran. In more normal years I'd be thinking that it will be different when we see you in the playoffs, but the MVC is so strong that without this game we have slim to no chance of making the playoffs.

I like Lennon but we're not moving forward and the time is near, imo.

EIU ran a no-huddle all game and it took a toll on SIU's defense.

You're right about no adjustments. The defense should have brought more pressure from different angles. That offense passed most of the time or ran out of the spread sets.

I just was surprised by SIU's lack of adjustments and poor performance. Maybe this game is a good wake-up call for the players and they come back and play better the rest of the season. But it will hurt if SIU gets to that 7 win mark and being on the 'bubble' for selection.

I'm not dissing EIU, they're an improved team with better athletes. But this one is not on the players.

There were 46 plays in the 1st qtr. alone Thing is that McCall was running over them and by them and should have had 20-25 carries, which would have been a great way to give the d some rest, but Lennon is apparently loyal to a fault towards Senior RB Strother who had more carries than McCall and looked at times like he didn't have a clue where to be. This game was critical because we have, Miami, NDSU, YSU and ISU on the road and now need a major upset to think about sniffing the playoffs.
