Gil, where's Matt? Matt dished it out to me pretty good last year when the ChiSox took 2 out of 3 from the Yankees.
The Twins are very much in this thing. Their pitching is scary good after an inexplicable rough start.

A-Rod is getting hot, and Jeter continues to be Mr Everything. Liriano and Santana can take the Twins a long ways, maybe not this year, but in the future. Mauer, Morneau and some up and coming Minor Leaguers are providing a spark to the team.

Everything is getting close. Not that it really matters, but the Bravos are the hottest team right now. I hope they come back and win the WC and shut people up

I'll respond for Matt as I am a White Sox fan as well.
No excuses from me. We didn't pitch at all the entire series. It doesn't matter if we played the Yank me's or the Devil Rays this past weekend, we would have lost to any MLB team the way our pitchers bit it.

Yep

Arod never gets credit, just blame. He was the reason the Yanks won yesterday. It was already 1-0 in the top of the first, no outs, and runners on first and third and the ChiSox were ready to run Jared Wright right out of the game, when Arod came up with two defensive gems.
He fielded a hard hit shot down the line and initiated a run down to nail the lead runner at the plate. And then with first and third, one out, he plucked another smash down the line, and started a difficult 5-4-3 DP to get out of the inning.
Then he smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to take the lead, taking some pressure off Wright.
That game was plainly destined for the "L" column before Arod interceded and turned the tone of the game.
As for the Twinkies, they are the only AL contender (winning % .550 or better) whose pitching is getting better as the season goes along. That's a strong positive trend.
Finally, I appreciate other Sox fans stepping in for Matt. But Matt was the guy who rode me hard after last year's series (all in good fun). "We want Matt! We want Matt!"

Very good weekend for the Yanks, especially given Boston's losing 3 out of 4 at home to the Oakland A's.

6 back today, Twins will gain ground on someone with a win tonight.
Big series between the Sox and Motor City Kitties.

Well, I'm used to throwing in the towel at this point of the season on a pretty regular basis. I guess you could say it gives me time to study up on the upcoming football season.

Depends who gets him, but I don't think offense wins pennants

The White Sox need bullpen help, not more offense. Also, their defense would suffer with Soriano in left and Podsednik in center as opposed to Anderson

I heard they wanted to keep him away from Detroit.

That may be true, they may just be trying to drive up the price, but Soriano is not the guy they need.

DO you guys really think Detroit needs Soriano??? I think they are fine now that DY is back
AppGuy04
July 25th, 2006, 05:04 PM
None of these teams NEED Soriano, they are just all trying to keep him away from each other. Other than Detroit, all the AL teams need pitching more than anything, so Detroit needs the offense more than any other team

Twins within 1 game of the Sox. Tonight should be a challenge for the Twins, #4 starter is their weekness. Up to the offense tonight. Liriano, Radke & Santana this weekend for Detroit.

Just my opinion, but Soriano feasts on weak pitching. Good pitchers make Soriano look bad, often very bad.
He's not the guy to add if you want to win in October. :twocents:

I agree, if he doesn't hit homeruns, he doesn't hit

Twins up 7-3 with Silva starting. Bad news for Chicago, if Silva can win, the slump is on.
