So what makes a poll, or a ranking "MAJOR?" Why don't you refer to the AGS poll as major when it was founded by the people behind CSN? It used to be considered "major" by CSN. And what about the new College Sports Journal poll, which is run by people who used to be national columnists for CSN and which also is administered by someone who also ran The Sports Network poll for several years?
