NATCHITOCHES – After the most extensive scrimmage of preseason Saturday night, Northwestern State coach Bradley Dale Peveto must've had newcomers Corey Simmons and Matt Flores in mind as he challenged his team's backups to step to the fore in the coming week heading toward a Sept. 1 opener at Texas Tech.
