BROOKINGS – Dell Rapids standout Cole Langer – grandson of Pro Football Hall of Fame center Jim Langer – on Monday gave a verbal commitment to play football at South Dakota State.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Langer drove to Brookings to tell the coaches the news in person. He also had a scholarship offer from the University of South Dakota.
Langer will be a four-year starter with the Quarriers. He earned Argus Leader Elite 45 honors as a sophomore, making 113 tackles and rushing for 1,236 yards then missed six games as a junior due to injury. Langer projects as a linebacker or defensive lineman at the college level.
His dad, Tracy, played baseball for the Jackrabbits and his grandfather played baseball and football for SDSU before beginning a distinguished career with the Miami Dolphins, playing every snap for the only undefeated team in NFL history. . . . (read more)
