Hey all,

Anyone interested in doing a NFL Survivor Group for this season?

If so, the group ID is: 5736, the passward is: ags

One strike and your out! Playoffs are included...if anyone survives for 17 weeks. I think this would be fun for a bunch of us on here to do, so if your interested sign up...I made my entry name as my handle here...so if you want so eveyone knows who is who, sign up with your handle!

I can't post a link from my office, but will follow up and do so tonight.

Rules are simple...you pick the winner of one NFL game (whatever you chose) each week. If you get it wrong you are eliminated. If you get it right, you continue on...you cannot pick the same team more then once in a season as well. So people can't load up on the Pats everytime they play the Dolphins or Bills. Only once a year that you can pick them or any other team.

I thought that was how it worked, but wanted to make sure. I've never done a game like that, but it sounds like fun.

It is fun, and it takes very little time. it sucks though if you lose in the first week...

I hope to get as many ppl as possible in on this...just a little bragging rights in AGS.

You know...I am not sure. I am looking on the Yahoo! page for it, but I am not finding an answer to that. If I had to guess, I would say the options to pick teams probably starts fresh with the 12 playoff teams.

Excellent! What I like most about this is that it only take you a minute to log in and pick a team...so there is such little effort required to participate!

Also to note, since the NFL is playing on Thursday's this year, you need to make your pick prior to the Thursday game. Basic rule of thumb for me is ti at least pick a game on Tuesday after Monday Night football so I have an entry...then make a change before Thursday if I have a change of heart and haven't run out of time.

I'll play. Historically, I either lose in the first two weeks or make it at least 10 weeks without a loss. Only exception I can think of was the year I won an elimination game in week 6 and stopped bothering to pick teams after that.

It is hard, especially in the NFL where an "upset" can happen on any week. But that is why the league is so much fun to watch.

Yeah, you cannot see anyone else's pick until the deadline. So Sept. 5 will be the first time we can see each other's picks for Week 1.

I admit, I have not yet made a decision...but It'll be a good one.

Yeah, I know for me (DET) I went with my biggest no way in the hell are they going to lose matchup. Plus, the Eagles still play Tampa later in the season, so I saw no use in using them yet. Whereas Detroit has to play Chicago & Green Bay a total of 4 times...much less guaranteed winnable games ahead for them.

Not that I am surprised, but after game 1 nobody as been eliminated.

Again, I think someone would have to have been foolish to pick the Dallas/NY game...those divisional games are always too close to call.

By the looks of the picks, there will be a lot of people rooting against Detroit this weekend, as that would take out half the field.

There is actually an ESPN Insider article http://insider.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?id=8335948 that dealt with some Eliminator strategy, that I thought was neat, but I'd rather just pick picks than try to do the math.

I see what you mean about the Detroit matchup being optimal, but i can see them beating the Vikings and Cards with high confidence (granted as with any game you never know the outcome). I think I'm a little higher on Tampa than most people...they will still be awful, but I think they may steal a few wins (like a couple seasons ago when they went 10-6).

Right now both our picks (Philly and Detroit) look to be in danger. Detroit is losing 23-20 to St. Louis w/ 1:53 left in the game. Philly is down 16-10 at Cleveland in the 4th

Well, its now working for me again. Looks like someone missed the deadline. I wish they'd at least give you until Sunday before the early games start, a lot of people probably don't think about a game being on every Thursday.

Not much variety for us this week. Only five different teams picked out of 15 players and still no one head to head.

Thanks to the awesomeness that is Roger Goddell, Fear the Bird wins the survivor pool. Congrats! As to the replacement refs, I hope the NFL owners and the commisioner get this figured out before a player is seriously hurt or a home team's fan go on a rampage.
