HA!

Take that ... what was the guy from Sam Houston who would always go out of his way to type out "Texas St - San Marcos", because he was pissed about that campus being the flagship of the university system to which SHSU belongs?

Not sure which guy was pissed at Texas St. because they are a flagship? There is no flagship to the system that Sam belongs to.

Do you have an article? Or is this like UL-Lafayette branding themselves as Louisiana?

Hate to break it to you but this didn't happen with their name. They might go by Texas state for sports but San Marcos is still in their name

There isn't a flagship school in the Texas State system. Don't know where your info is coming from, man. They definitely dropped the city.

They dropped it from athletics but not from the university itself

I don't care what Southwest Texas State University @ San Marcos is calling themselves this week....people from Texas know who and what they are..

Basically, they're a rural version of Georgia State, The University of Chapel Hill at Charlotte and USL, but with Cowboy Boots....

Great thread. 4 pages and no official statement or article.

If the board of regents actually lets you do if, congrats. No one actually calls you Texas state San Marcia except for people who dislike you

rrrright...not quite official yes, but again referencing the thread, emails have been sent out to faculty about dropping the San Marcos in their correspondence. If you missed it in the thread, the word on the street is that there is support from the BoR to drop the San Marcos and this is being done in anticipation of that change to come.
