What I'm saying is.... You all need to drop the ridiculous pissing contest! The record shows that the 2010 Texas Tech team was solid. Nearly every loss was close and to very good teams. Their record is solid and the bowl victory is a bowl victory. Trying to diminish it by making excuses for Michigan State is a school kid tactic. What does it say about UND's team that year? I don't Know!! But if Darell shows a little school pride in the face of a long, bitter and juvenile assault, WHO CARES?? Let it go and move on. I swear! I get the feeling sometimes that WHEN NDSU loses it's first game in 2012, all the NDSU fans here are gonna take their ball and go home. It has long passed the pathetic stage. Quit turning every discussion into the UND/NDSU show. I sometimes wonder what the average age and/or IQ is on this forum.

darell is an embarrassment to my school, I am annoyed with his delusions.

I didn't realize bashing UND was a requirement to "your" school. You are not a UND fan at all. I could go back to your posts and see if anything was said about UND in a positive manner and I think I would have better luck finding a needle in a haystack.

I have more of a basis to call it my school than you ever will. Most of my discussion regarding UND is with nutjobs like you. When UND is actually good (like say a decade ago), or plays a team that was actually a title contender, I will gladly say so.

So I am a nutjob for cheering my team on in good times and bad times and against every opponent. Then call me a nutjob.

there is a difference between supporting your team and nonsense like claiming you hung close with a title contender when it wasn't close and they weren't a contender.

Unlike you I actually set foot in an academic building, and degree #1 is hanging on the wall over my left shoulder, misspelled name and all. I would love to see good football played here, but honestly the team had a pretty mediocre season last year and were terrible the two years before, saddled with an awful head coach who probably couldn't get a job as a position coach at most power schools. Last I checked I'm also on the record that I expect an 7-4 season next year, which hardly agrees with me being a hardcore UND basher.

The only reason I come across as a UND basher is that I don't buy into the loony party line horse**** of the rest of the cracked-out UND fanbase. Oh and I hate hockey.

I love the "you don't have a degree from the school so you can't be a fan" argument..classic. I was born and raised in Grand Forks, went to my first UND game when I was 8 years old, and I am still going to games 28 years later. So I think that should qualify me as a fan. As for the football team being not up to par its called transition. Some teams have good ones like NDSU and some don't like USD. UND beat some good teams and even shared a conference title, now we will see what the team is made of with a real conference schedule. Oh by the way I love UND hockey and the rest of UND sports.

I know there are times that I've agreed with what you said - it's just that you don't use a very good tone in your criticism of UND that makes you come across as a UND basher (plus, I think I know who you are on Bisonville, and you definitely come across as a big Bison fan there :) ). Like I've said before, I'm leery of a few pieces of the UND squad, but think that last year was a definite improvement over the prior year and I think there is talent in the system. I just don't know what to expect. UND played almost every game close last year, and could have just as easily finished 10-1 or 4-7. The fact that they actually won some of the close games was a step in the right direction.

The key to last season was winning on the road. When they beat #17 Southern Utah who just got done beating a FBS team that gave UND a lot of confidence in the rest of the season. And they proved it by losing only 2 games on the road (both FBS games). Beating SUU, UC Davis, and UNC was a major step in their improvement.

You "hate hockey"? Wow, I gotta agree that you come off as a UND Basher of sorts. What kind of UND fan doesn't like UND Hockey!??!!? That is unheard of.

1. It is a sport that you actually get Bison fans (some) to cheer you on for. Myself included.
2. The only sport where you have a state-of-the-art facility.
3. Sport that you are actually known for, and one that your actually good at. (had to get in a UND jab):D

as a naive fargoan, I am an ndsu fan as well. my uncle played at und in the late 70's, and my family has split attendance between the schools (13 und, 12 ndsu, with 4 having attended both schools). I went to my first ndsu game in utero, UND game at 4, and bisonsioux game when I was 7. Having dealt with tons of bull****, cronyism, and incompetence at UND, I find far more areas for criticism of UND. I don't want the series to start again because it's a person annoyance. Given a matchup, I would probably root for whatever team had the better prospects, with a long-run lean toward NDSU because I feel the school has better long run potential athletically and academically, and because I'm an all around fan of my hometown.

I hate hockey at all levels.

Final results for the 2012 Preseason Poll:
11 Lehigh Mountain Hawks 1433 0
14 New Hampshire Wildcats 1184 0
15 Stony Brook Seawolves 1042 0
29 Albany Great Danes 305

With our schedule (CCSU plays 3 of those 4 on the road), that's certainly enough of an opportunity to prove something.

If we can at least split those 4 games, I will be very happy and it suggests that Central has a legit shot at the top-25 at some point in the season.

Yes, but their thoughts on the matter got much softer as the year ended and they were very questionable so it's arguable from either POV and you have to assume that the voters thought LU would win their conference which would have given them the shot they could count on to make the field.

Couple that with losing 2 starting LB's in week 3 off of a front 7 that was starting 6 new players and losing a starting DL during that same time (during the SIU game we were down to a 3rd string DE and DT for awhile), losing our top WR for 2 games, starting a freshman QB (who was the best, or second best QB in the league this year...Matt Brown deserved almost zero of the awards he got this year Jensen and Kollmorgen were both more deserving but it was a "Career achievement" award year for Brown), and starting 2 true freshman in the secondary during the season.

Now, next season UNI returns 6 of the top 8 pass catchers which accounted for 1900 of the 2500 yards passing (of the 600 lost, 500 came from one guy)...which will all be juniors or sophomores next season, RB David Johnson (1000+ yard rushing 13 TD (18 total td), 5.7 ypc will be a JR), RB Austin Ebertowski who averaged just a touch under 5 ypc will be a so), and 3 starting OL.

On defense UNI returns every starter in the front 7. We do lose 4 starters in the secondary, but like I had said earlier, though-out the season two true freshman had started back there as well. I think we return something like 14 or 15 of our top tacklers, and 6 of our top 10.

This past year was very strange for UNI.

Had the conference schedule been flipped (MSU, USD, SDSU) been up front and NDSU, YSU, and SIU been back half UNI likely finishes 7-4 as the injuries suffered early in the season set us back pretty hard for the YSU, SIU, and NDSU games. Most of the guys played through the injuries but were only about 60-70% until after the bye week, and still not 90% by the end of the season I'd bet. If they were able to get to NDSU, YSU, SIU at a healthier spot I'd be we win 2 of those 3.

However, we can't change any of that. Next year is setting up much nicer for UNI with the schedule as well.

So far only 1 FBS game (could be winnable), a home FCS game, a road FCS game as the front half of a h/h, and looking for 1 more FCS team to play in CF

@ Iowa State
vs Drake
@ Northern Colorado (front half h/h)
vs another FCS team (could be FBS but I really don't see that happening this year)
4 home conference
4 road conference

Just FYI I wasn't smack talking UNI, I actually still had them in my top 25 when they were like 1-4 or whatever it was. I thought when MVC play started they would round the corner and I could justify the ranking, but obviously that never happened. good luck next year!

I didn't think you were. This was a very off year for UNI....I think it's just our 3rd losing season in 30 years.

I'd look for an 8-9 win regular season from UNI next year.

I'm not saying that's what did it....we played those games tough.

Give UNI the Southland conference and they likely would have gone through it undefeated this year...maybe 1 loss.

SHSU in the MVFC likely has 2 or 3 losses to go along with those 2 FBS losses.
