Announced this past week that the 100th playing of one of America's great high school rivalries will be telecast nationwide by ESPN2 on Thanksgiving morning. The game is played, annually, at Lafayette's Fisher Field due to the size of the crowd being two-three times either school's stadium.
Both teams to honor the occasion will be wearing "throw back" uniforms this year. Easton's from the 1930-40's era. In addition, the helmets motif will be redesigned to mimic the 'old' style helmets in the 1940's that had the wide padded stripe over the top.
Both schools' booster clubs (Easton's Varsity 'E' and Pburg's Garnet & Gray) will work together all year in raising money for scholarships with various activities celebrating the anniversary.
The cities of Easton and Philipsburg are situate on opposite sides of the Delaware River and regularly combine community activities, such as the annual Halloween Parade that starts on the Jersey side and crosses the Free Bridge and culminating in Easton's Center Square (in front of the Crayola Factory). The rivalry between the two schools is probably second in intensity only to Lehigh-Lafayette.

Awesome :hurray: . This game was on the duece sometime in the late 1980s. This is also some great publicity for Lafayette. Those uniforms are going to look spiffy.

I saw the articles in both the Morning Call and Expres-Times (online of course) last week. The "Throwback Unis" are really mix and match of jersey's helmets and pants from different eras for both schools... Personally, I thought that was a dumb idea. It's like they're trying way too hard.

They're going to look dumber than the Pittsburgh Pirates of the late 70's!

Naaahhhh. 70's Pirates have retired the trophy for goofy uniforms, though they were a great team.

Since I did not attend EAHS, I have not idea what style of unis they were using back then. I do think the jerseys with the 'Princeton stripes' on the arms are cool, and Easton being Red, Black and White could look sharp.
In response to someone else's post, the two schools did have the first high school game televised nationally on ESPN back in late 1980's (1988) I think and it was a classic with P-burg (as they are referred to around here) won in overtime.
