It appears you are saving the files as low-resolution GIF files. If this is so, then it changes the color palette from thousands (or millions) of choices down to 256 colors.

Try saving the files as JPEG files, medium or high resolution. This should take care of the color difficulties.

Also, try using Adobe Photoshop CS2. It only cost around $1000 fully licensed!
