Article below on a Northern Colorado signee who apparently is helping NoCo go from Div I-AA to Div I-A...
Childhood friend and future University of Northern Colorado roommate Ron Alford said Machado's shyness dates back to elementary school. Friends for more than half their lives, Alford still hasn't quite figured out Machado.
"It's hard to read him. Even sometimes when I haven't seen him in a while, I go through that awkwardness you go through when you haven't seen somebody in a while," said Alford who graduated from La Quinta High School last week. "It just takes him being comfortable around people to get him to talk."
Fortunately for Machado, his family and friends sometimes speak up for him. Alford played an instrumental role in him securing a football scholarship at Northern Colorado, a school in the midst of transition from NCAA Division I-AA to Division I-A status.
