In a couple of weeks, former Viking defensive back and star, DeShawn Shead, hopes to be the property of an NFL team. David Ross and Manoa Latu, two other former Viking DBs have been on the sidelines during spring practice helping out the coaching staff. Donte Almond, a starter at safety for most of 2011, is also done playing. Those four seniors from 2011 (and their combined 170 tackles, five interceptions and 16 pass breakups) are gone from the defensive backfield. That leaves an air of uncertainty and means starting roles and playing time are up for grabs this spring at Portland State's defensive back spots.
