Let the rumors resurface again.

CofC coach, Tom Herrion, fired.

Despite having four years remaining on his contract, and due, according to a source, an estimated $1 million for the remaining years on that deal, Herrion is out as head coach, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

Buzz certainly tops the list but he's not alone. Florida could lose another assistant coach and GM might finally get a shot outside of Winthrop. We'll be adding more names to the blog below.

Funny, but on Sunday I was talking about Herrion's job security with a College of Charleston alum. We both thought that Herrion would probably be out if he didn't get it done in 2007. This is a good move. Herrion has probably the best athletes in the SoCon, but the program has continued to erode since John Kresse left. Herrion didn't have much respect around the league as a coach. His program lacked discipline, he recruited some questionable characters and his players didn't improve under his coaching. The biggest thing was that he took Kresse's tradition of teaching man-to-man defense and threw it out the window. The Cougars have been terrible on defense under Herrion.

C of C athletic officials have spoken unofficially with Coastal Carolina head coach Buzz Peterson to see if he'd be interested in taking over the Cougars program, several sources told The Post and Courier on Wednesday.
