Jose Gumbs absolutely destroyed his pro day today with some incredible results...
He was clocked at 4.44 and 4.46 in his 40 yard dash and recorded a 41+ inch vertical. Both of these numbers blow away what any SS did at the combine and are also the BEST for any Safety at the combine. Add to it a 10.2 broad jump and decent to good cone and shuttle work AND 225 bench x 20 reps and his stock just jumped big time.. 7 pro teams were there and that is pretty good considering he was the only legitimate NFL prospect working out and does not include the local NY Giants. This kid is the steal of the draft. Hopefully teams will not make the same mistake they did when they over looked Monmouth's Miles Austin in the draft after he also destroyed the combine... Congratulations Jose Gumbs, and also best wishes and good health to ALL FCS drat eligible players, their families and fans. God Bless.

Those are great numbers. I really like his athletic ability. He needs a lot of coaching but is just the type of prospect you take in the 6th or 7th round and develop.

Can't wait to see if he gets drafted. Will be the 2nd Hawk to do so!!! Good luck Jose!!! It's been a pleasure watching you at the shore these past several years.

My Pats could use some secondary help, Belicheck is the master of late round steals.....
Goodluck to him, I love hearing FCS schools come up when they introduce the starting lineups. Those numbers are really impressive

Do you think that has anything to do with the fact that this washis pro day and not at the combine?

No I'm saying the numbers are different because the NFL combine is different. The same reason almost everyone puts up better numbers at their pro day.

Where did Gumbs do his pro day workout? His numbers seem to compare favorably with some of those at the combine. He might not get drafted, but he'll likely get a look as an UFA.

Pro Day was held at a local indoor sports facility, near Monmouth Campus.. True, it was NOT the combine, but it was still clocked by NFL watches... These guys know how to time a 40 they do it all the time over and over again.. Not to mention a 4.44 and 4.46 and even a 4.5 that he ran, are a decent amount faster than others, so even if u take off a tenth u are still looking 4.55 ish?? 225 lbs test and vertical would be the same anywhere?? 41 inches is by far the best.... He ran the 4.44 as timed by NFL scouts to their satisfaction not a hometown watch... We will see but for 210 lbs, a 41 inch vert and those 40's, combined with ability to play specials, cover and hit like a truck, I think it sets up favorably for him...

My Dallas Cowboys have a need at S... He has a chance to potentially end along side former Monmouth great Miles Austin...
