In one of the closest tournaments ever, Cornell narrowly held off the Lehigh in the nation's oldest collegiate wrestling tournament, 151.5-149. In a repeat of last year, American's Flores at 285 'upset' Lehigh's defending NCAA Champion, Rey, in Sudden Victory, 3-1, in an amazing 'scramble' among two wrestlers combined over 500 lbs. Had Rey come out of the scramle on top, Lehigh would have claimed the team title. Both wrestlers are ranked #1-2, and will likely be seeded that way at Nationals.
Regardless, Lehigh crowned 3 champions, but more importantly had every wrestler place in the top 8 and qualified NINE for the NCAA Tournament next week in St. Louis. LU champs were Welsh (seeded 6th!) at 149, Hatchett (seeded #1 at 165, and Hamlin (seeded #2) at 184.
