The last time I was at Shea, I was 9... and I want to take my brother there as a gift. However, I don't know much about Shea and where the good seats/deals are.
They have some reasonably priced Loge Reserved back rows, blue seats.. like $18. I'm surprised because it is kind of close to the action, but are the seats obstructed by the overhang or anything else? Seats higher up are more expensive, which I don't understand.
Anybody have some insight on Shea? If you do.. please share.. thanks!
Here is a link so you all can see what I am referring to.. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/nym/ballpark/seating_pricing.jsp

My only experience in Shea was sitting in the upper deck, and the view was fine. I would think the lower levels aren't bad as far as that goes. I can't see you having too much of a problem with sitelines.
The real drawback to Shea is that it's a dump. It's small, cramped and dirty and not an overly pleasant place to spend time for a ballgame. At the very least, I thought Yankee Stadium, Fenway, Camden Yards, and Montreal's old stadiums were nicer places to be.

Go to Philly. Citizen's Bank Park is much better than Shea. If you are a die hard Mets fan then wait until they come to Philly. The New Park is great!!!

The reserved blue seats are really "nose bleed" seats. Watch out for the planes flying in and out of La Guardia airport !!!!! (low overflights not as bad as in the old days).
Back seat Loge seats definitely have sight-line problems because of the overhang.
But don't worry, any day at the ballpark is a good day!
One more warning ....... I believe demolition has already begun in preparation for the new ballpark, so parking is at a premium. Suggestion is to take John Rocker's favorite train-ride, the #7 train! Just take in the atmosphere!
(btw, I have 2 field level seats available for September 23rd against Washington if anybody is interested. May be a special day because that's the day I predict the Metsies will clinch the East title!)

That was my guess.. the overhang. The blue seats.. Loge Reserved back rows.. are on the first level of the three-tiered Shea.. and from judging from pictures it looks blocked.
And nope, can't take that 23rd game... Lafayette at Princeton that day. :D

Pard4Life, your suspicion is correct. I am a long-time Met fan and had season tix for several years. Those seats are obstructed view and not worth the $18. You might want to check stubhub.com.

Thanks for the input 'gate and everyone.. stubhub looks like a good site. I was more teams had the 'seatview' feature on their site.. where you can click on the seating chart and see the view from that section.
