As long as she is hitting from the same tees, no problem.

mad props to her. Hope she makes it and shuts up the old rich white guys who are against it.

I've been a fan of girls kicking guys butts in golf since a girl kicked mine (and I shot a 73 and lost by 3) :mad:

Let her try. She is an amazing talent, however, I believe that if she keep trying to hang with the boys that is what her legacy will be. Somewhat of a side show.:rolleyes:

Agreed, If she would concentrate on just playing golf, instead of trying to prove the world wrong. I think her and Annika would be a great battle, and might save the women's game.

I agree with that. I liken Annika to Nicklaus as far as setting the bar for the LPGA and Michelle would be Tiger. She would take the LPGA to a new level as far as quality, money and impact to get people interested in the women's tour.

Keep on and she will become the Anna Kortnakova of golf that had the talent to win but didn't.: smh :

She's 2 under tied for 11th at the qualifier in Jersey. The course is playing pretty hard with very deep rough, ala the U.S Open. The Open should really good this year as Wing Foot is one of the best major venues.

I noticed the unusual method of reporting utilized:


When Wie started her round about 8:50 a.m., about 15 minutes late, 200 to 300 people were following her. By the time she reached No. 8, the ring of people around the green was three-to-four deep with a one-to-two deep group waiting on the next tee for her.

Wie was greeted with polite applause by a couple of hundred spectators as she arrived at the 501-yard, par-4 No. 1 hole on the South Course. She pulled her drive left into the wet rough, and the crowd went silent.

Wie chipped 80 yards short of the green and hit her third about 12 feet right of the hole. Her par-saver was right in the middle of the cup.

She removed her sweater and unveiled a lime-striped golf shirt for the par-4, 394-yard second hole and drove down the middle. Her second hit was from 9 feet, but she pushed her putt right. It never touched the cup, drawing groans from the crowd.

Her 10-footer birdie attempt on par-4, No. 3 missed left. One fan implored Wie to start making some putts as she headed to No. 4. Her tee shot revved the crowd. The putt never fell, though.

Weekend rain made the greens receptive and boosted expectations for low scores on both the South and North courses.

Wie spent the past four days at the club ...

She's tied for 13th after one round at 2 under (top 18 qualify), but there are another 20 players at 1 under. She will not make it. :twocents:

Wow - kinda happy about that, aren't you? Remember, she's only 16, and although an LPGA tour member, she's also going to high school during the year so is only able to play in a small handful of LPGA events per year. She did finish second in last year's LPGA US Open so she certainly has the talent, and playing in these men's tournaments is a way that she can play some more and face very good competition. And so far she hasn't embarassed herself - she's been pretty competitive in most of the tournaments she's played in. Relax, she'll probably make the men's US Open before she's 21 and she'll probably be a regular on the PGA tour. Don't see why she should be banished to the LPGA just because she's female.

We shall see, but I tend to disagree with you on these points. Nobody has been as dominant on the LPGA as Anika. She is more dominant on the LPGA than Tiger on the PGA. She failed to make the cut at a couple of hand-chosen events where the length of the course wouldn't hurt her. Wie will not be a regular on the Tour. As soon as her novelty wears off, so will her welcome as a sponsors exemption. :twocents:
