A crowd of 6,000 to 7,000 is expected Tuesday night at 7 when the UND and North Dakota State men’s basketball teams meet in Grand Forks for the first time in eight years.

The estimate came from Jody Hodgson, Ralph Engelstad Arena general manager. The schools went seven years without meeting in basketball before playing in Fargo last season, a game that the Bison won handily.

“Basketball always has pretty good walk-up ticket sales,” Hodgson said. “We’re expecting that again, especially with the students.”


UND men’s basketball is 12-6 in games at the REA, including 2-1 against NDSU.

Same with Wisconsin-UND like the 1982 game that involved fighting with the police and fans. There won't be a Xavier-Cincinnati type game at the REA. Just a classy win by UND and a long drive back to Fargo for the NDSU fans.

First MSU-Moorhead proves to be the best team in F-M, and now North Dakota proves to be the best team in North Dakota. Both teams played like crap. UND just happen to get hot at the end which usually happens when we trail by 20. This isn't the NDSU team I saw when they played ORU. Saul needs to get his team ready for the Bunnies or else SDSU will eat them alive. Good game NDSU and I really hope UND plays in Fargo next season. This rivalry needs to continue. Now if only we can get the football teams playing.;)

All of that material was made by UND. I went to the game and didn't even know there would be an NDSU student section. NDSU didn't advertise the game at all on campus. I would also agree with the 500 NDSU fans comment.

There were probably 3000 UND fans at the game last year, maybe more. SDSU is definetly a bigger draw, for now.
