Lehigh is fast becoming the new 'cradle of coaches'. Announced today that #1 Assistant, Chris Ayres, has been named the new HC at Princeton, whose trying to rebuild a once proud program that is struggling in its re-creation. This is the third Lehigh assistant to be hired as an HC in three years. Santoro, now entering his fourth year at Maryland, McCoy now entering year two at Stanford, and now Ayres. Ayres was very instrumental in getting the #1 ranked class in the country this year and knows how to recruit grapplers with good academics--hence the reason Princeton wanted him. Strobel, however, is still "The Man" but he won't be there forever, either, so hopefully the new assistants will be like quality. Of course, I could see one of the above three returning the South Mountain once Strobel decides to retire; but I would think he'll coach for at least another 5 years...
