The Minnesota Vikings have named Rick Spielman as Vice President of Player Personnel ... A native of Massillon, OH, Spielman was a LB at Southern Illinois University from 1983-86 and earned 1st-team All-Gateway Conference honors as a junior in 1985. He was a part of the Salukis' Division IAA national championship team in 1983 as a redshirt freshman. Spielman has a bachelor's degree from SIU and a master's from Ohio State.

Congrats to Rick ...another feather in the I-AA cap.

I guess I am old too, I stopped being a "skinny" uncle a few years ago. :) I remember both brothers ... Rick and Chris. Chris was a star for the Buckeye's, and most recently the head coach of the Columbus Destroyers (AFL). I think he is back on ESPN. Heck for that matter, although I was young, I remember when AFL meant American Football League.
