Well, WWE is cracking down too on drug use and steroids...
Apparently, Chris Masters and Joey Mercury were the two WWE superstars who failed their drug tests. Masters was removed immediately from WWE house shows this past weekend and Mercury was put in a drug rehab program already.
WWE is taking violations of the policy seriously. No official statement from WWE on their web site, but word is circulating the 'Net.

Are they cracking down on the superstars or just the scrubs?

Anyone and everyone...
Joey Mercury until recently was one-half of the tag team champions. He was mid-card talent...
Chris Masters on the otherhand was an up and coming star who could one day be a main-eventer. He's main-evented on RAW very recently and has a hold (the 'Masterlock' full nelson) that has yet to be broken, not even by John Cena or Shawn Michaels. He has loads of potential...
On another drug use, steroid-related note, Davey Boy Smith, known as the British Bulldog, who died a few years back in large part due to drug abuse and other health-related issues, has a son who is fixing to debut in WWE. Harry Smith fought at the WWE house shows this past weekend and could be on RAW as soon as tommorrow, though June 5th is the date he mentioned in the Calgary Sun...

Hey now! The full nelson used to be pretty devastating. Remember the Warlord used to do one too back when? :hurray:

Well, I can't really say that I'm surprised that Masters was juicing or taking whatever he was taking. I tended to look at him like this: :eyebrow:

Are these real suspensions, or just show (or a cover-up).
I remember when Ric Flair had a heart attack. The promoters hid this fact but reporting that he had been blind-sided and beaten by a competitor with a pipe in the parking lot after a match and was recovering from his wounds.

No. These are legit. They haven't even mentioned them on WWE.com or on a show. They're suspended.

Right, the WWE and/or WCW typically does that...

Wrestling may be fake, but the suspensions are real.
Vince McMahann and the then WWF, had to clean up it's act when they decided to put this on TV every week and market it as "Sports Entertainment"....................basically admitting what everybody knew anyway.............IT's set up..............SHOCK!!
This was back a few years before the rating's war's happened with Ted Turner and WCW.......Ultimate Warrior, the VON Eric's, etc.........Hulk Hogan, Toney Atlas, etc.
The GUV-ment basically told McMahnn they would basically be prosecuted out of business if they didn't get this under control.
That's why so many of the older wrestler's suddenly got "small" during the late '80's thru 90's.

I look at Scott Steiner the same way.
