Attachment 836 (http://www.collegesportingnews.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=836)Sam Houston State proved why they deserved the top seed in the playoffs as they ran past fourth seeded Montana 31-28 in their Division I national semifinal in Huntsville, Texas. Tim Flanders rushed for a school-record 287 yards and a touchdown in leading the way for the Bearkats to their first national championship game appearance in their history.

Sam Houston State (14-0) was playing in the semifinals for only the second time in their history having lost ironically to Montana (12-3) in 2004.

The Bearkats scored 21 points in the opening quarter.
