Congratulations to Independence High School (Charlotte, NC) and Appalachian State's own D.J. Smith! Stepped into a starting job on the defending champion Green Bay Packers as a rookie after an injury and through two and a half games, all you've done is rack up 28 tackles and an INT.

A great player with over 500 tackles in his ASU career on the field and an excellent ambassador for the school off of it. Good work D.J.!

I remember discussing who would be the better pro DJ or Legree with some folks on here. DJ may not be the fastest guy in the world but he just has football "smarts". His understanding of the game may be that much better than others at his position. Great job DJ!
