More dominoes falling in light of Big East moves...????

That means the Mountain West is definitely losing two football programs (SDSU and BSU) … which means the MWC most likely will be looking to add two … which means San Jose State and Utah State could be on their way to the MWC.

(Don’t be surprised if Air Force eventually makes the jump to the Big East with Navy, which would leave the MWC down three in football.)

SJSU athletic director Tom Bowen has been in contact with Mountain West officials about the possibility of joining the conference.

My guess is that it will happen for SJSU – but that, as with most realignment-related matters, it will take time (perhaps much longer than anticipated).

Remember: realignment is fluid, with multiple layers of bureaucracy and politics involved.

The new WAC (football only)
2012 (and if SJSU and USU leave)

Idaho
Louisiana Tech
New Mexico State
UTSA
Texas State

Other WAC members (those that don't have football)
Denver
Seattle
UT-Arlington

Affiliate Members

BYU (softball)
Cal State-Bakersfield (baseball)
Dallas Baptist (baseball)
North Dakota (women's S&D)
Northern Arizona (women's S&D)
Sac State (baseball, women's gymnastics)
Southern Utah (women's gymnastics)

Maybe the WAC in order to keep members need these schools to join (of course some would need the NCAA to lose that attendance policy to move up).
