I'm new to the board, so I apologize if this was covered before:
On a different thread, Lehigh'98 stated "This is a top 5 LU team of all time so far though, if ever there was a LU team that could do it, its them. "
How does this year's team stack up historically? We've had several teams reach this point before, and it is hard to discount the national title team era...
Any thoughts?

This team probably close to a top 5 team, if we beat NDSU,a tough prospect, they would surely be there. Putting 77 and 79 to the side for moment , it will be interesting to see how posters rank a top 5 list.

It's difficult to give a team with all of one win in the playoffs a "top five" status for any school.
Mot PL teams of today don't match up with teams from their schools' past.

As of today:
1. '77 - Gotta give em top bill for NC!!
2. '98 - Beat A10 (CAA) champ Richmond, then was 6 yds away from UMASS(eventual champ) victory.
3. '00 - Destroyed WIU first round.
4. '11 - This could change.
5abcd. '95, '99, '01, '10 - '95 probably wasnt better than the others, but they were some of the most exciting games LU ever had w/ Aylesworth & Klingerman.

The great thing about football at this level FCS is there's a fair amount of new activity - new power - every year...
The CAA is consistently strong but after that teams pop up (Eastern Washington) and go on runs
