nope good replay

Pard4Life

Sick kid means I am at home unfortunately. So far Lehigh looks great, Towson is struggling to get anything going on both sides of the ball

Pard4Life
December 3rd, 2011, 03:23 PM
Wow Stony Brook 10-3... that was my upset pick on the Laf board.

Great drive by the Tigers!

Pard4Life
December 3rd, 2011, 03:26 PM
Wow... textbook run, LU looked in a pass defense formation.

Engineer86
December 3rd, 2011, 03:27 PM
I agree with LU going for it, but not making it could be a turning point. We need a strong drive here

UIWWildthing
December 3rd, 2011, 03:30 PM
That's BS he never came out

Engineer86
December 3rd, 2011, 03:30 PM

And his momentum carried him backwards into the endzone, like an INT at the goaline. Touchback.

UIWWildthing

What was that a 2 inch penalty?

Engineer86

UIWWildthing

Agreed, and I can see a 99 1/2 yard drive out of this...

Engineer86
December 3rd, 2011, 03:33 PM
Now I understand all the comments of MEAC refs they are bumbling idiots

Pard4Life

Bogus Megapardus

I think it's fair to say the scheme being run is similar to ours. Give the recievers a 12 yard cushion and hope for the best.

Yup, that is usually called cover 1. You can't let Lum sit back and pick recievers in a zone, he is just too good.

Can't believe it came down to a safety - grats Lehigh on a solid win.

Interesting final stats. Lehigh 26-17 in first downs, 482-339 in total offense. Towson only led in rushing 125 to 108. Lehigh kicker did just what he had to, make all his XP and a chip shot field goal. It was a different kicker who did the two cushion shot for the most bizarre on side kick in FCS history. Towson only had two plays on offense in the last 10+ minutes of the game.

Yes, thanks TU....great crowd, stadium staff excellent, pulled a few idiot students out of our LU area when they got a bit too rowdy, but did it w class. Under the lights, good band, music and video board, was top notch atmosphere...and what a freakin' game.

Lot 11 was a blast, Rich, u shoulda made it down. Great at night. Minus the blond TU bimbo who was chanting 'CAA Champs' on the way out of stadium, and then argued to the point of retardedness with some LU undergrads about how that was more important than this game tonight, TU students and fans were classy and cool. Well, the blonde was actually really hot, so we'll have to let that slide.

Thanks for recognizing that xnodx Sure the PL doesn't have a top to bottom quality set of teams like the CAA, but we are consistent in putting a competitive team into the playoffs. Usually get paired with a CAA juggernaut who goes to the title game and put up a good fight. Hopefully this year is an exception and we get to Frisco!

My post from other thread. Too tired and exhausted to do it again..

I just got home from the game..and am wasted, emotionally and physically! A great atmosphere. They put the Lehigh section right next to the Towson band, and I thought that might make for a bad situation. About 1/3 of Lehigh's band came as a stand band and was also right next to them. But everyone got along great..we all cheered to each others songs, just used our own words!

As for the game. We, too, were surprised with the limited use of West, but seeing the above post, it makes sense. TSU's run game is very good, and it got better when our OLB Boyko went out with a separated shoulder...that's when the Tigers started pounding those off tackle sweeps. I thought our interior DL did a good job and had decent pressure at times. DB's made two obvious mistakes that went for huge gainers, by biting on fakes. Still, it was the defense that came up with the game winning play with the blitz by Bianchi when Enders bootlegged into a safety.

To me the game was like a huge heavyweight boxing match, or a great tennis match--who was going break serve first and get the upper hand. We did in the first half, and Towson in the second as we were constantly catching up. Then, with the "on sides kick" (not sure if it was intentional or not) I thought that was the game changer. ONLY for Towson to stop us and make us punt, which Divers did beautifully by having it downed at the 5 yard line, which then set up the safety.

Cecchini's play calling was great. The flea-flicker was a great call, only to have our second QB drop the pass. He could have walked home. Lum made good decisions and really spread the ball around. Our Special Teams had their best game of the year. KO coverage and scheme worked well, All PATs and FGs made, a punt inside the 5 yard line. Lehigh showed a lot of resilience. after getting up and getting caught and then to have Towson take advantage of our one TO at the beginning of the second half would have made some other teams panic when falling behind. But they didn't and pinball machine game kicked it up a notch.

Towson people were very nice. I'm aware of no incidents. A very nice stadium (although the constant 'noise' from the sound system, to me, takes away from the atmosphere--I'd rather hear the bands), even though it has a track (;-). Towson had a great season, and with their youth, they should be around for some time. Now I have to see if I can work my schedule at work and home to get to Fargo..may be difficult, but I know we should have a small, but boisterous contingent present

A big THANK YOU to Towson University for providing one of the best game-day experiences I've seen in all my days of FCS football. Not only are your facilities top notch (well, except for parking :-0) but your fans are a classy bunch. Even your students are relatively polite and well-behaved! And the band....WOW! I don't know if it was "meta-game" to put them right next to the Lehigh section, but I certainly didn't care. They were awesome and I found myself singing and dancing along with them a little too often!

All my crew talked about for the past two weeks was Terrance West, but Enders is no schlub either. You guys are going to be set for a few years to come.

Watched the video replay last night on ESPN3, the announcers were pretty good actually, once the QB guy from Bowling Green stop saying "TowNson.

Startling fact that missed postings pregame, as it is a hot ticket issue most years...transfers. Had no idea Towson had 9 of them on the roster. That's a UD like number of guys dropping down from FBS. A few seemed to have followed Ambrose from UConn. Andy7171, do you know how many actually contributed this year? Announcers seemed to mention five played bigger roles, included the WR Kinnard and RB from Colorado too. Wonder how much those guys all factored into the season's big turn around, and if they have been around a few years or not, as a few contributing big could explain somewhat, the change this year versus just a program wide improvement on a whole.

Curious to know from a TU insider, Andy. No smack, honestly want to know what your thoughts may be.

There were 3 transfers who ended up starting: Tucker (DE) from Syracuse, Kinnard (WR) from UConn, and DiSanzo (LB) from Boston College. The TE, Oboh, as well, but he transferred from Florida Atlantic, which to me is the same as getting an FCS transfer. The two other RBs contributed but obviously took a back seat to West, and Sheppard (WR) from UConn was the only other guy to have any significant impact.

I don't like the Towson coach

I don't either. He seems like a douche -- more concerned about his oratory stylings and appearance than actual coaching. Against Lehigh, Towson took the field WALKING through the inflatable helmet and smoke holding up a championship belt - like it was Ali vs Frazier the Thrilla in Manilla. It was overly staged and dramatic given the event, and he was leading the way. Also, you have to check-out a you tube video from earlier this year when Towson beat Villanova. The students stormed the field, which seemed unnecessary, and he was in middle of the throng orchestrating cheers. I guess he's a good coach, but his behavior seems inappropriate. And why did he give the ball to West only 11 times the whole game? If I were a Towson fan I'd be pissed.

Tucker transferred from Syracuse after his true freshman year, he redshirted and came right in next year will be his RS senior year. I always forget to include him as a transfer. Syracuse want him to play outside linebacker but he wasn't to be a DE.
DiSanso came in from BC. He started there his true freshamn year, but they had strong recruiting classes and he lost his starting role. He was a center piece of our defense.
Sterling Phifer came in from BC as RB last spring, but had to sit out with injury issues early, missed all of spring and early in the season, when West came in and stole the show.
Sheepard came in from UConn and played RB/WR/QB and PR. He's kinda short, so I wouldn't be surprised if he moves to DB this spring.
There are several others, but only played minor roles.

Getting transfers in was one of Ambrose's first thing to do as he ran out practically everyone from the Combs era in the rebuilding process. '09 we were a couple transfers and true freshman, RS freshman and true and RS sophomores. Injuries plagued the younguns. Last year they we a year older and the transfers helped spread out the talent. This year it all came together, much like ODUs team.

West apparently had a very poor 10 days of practice and his playing time paid the price. No one is bigger than the team, even in the biggest game of the program. Ambrose didn't hurt the team, West did.

Prior to Ambrose's return to Towson, ZERO student support. You PL guys should remember the empty stadiums. Ambrose is on campus lobbying the students all the time, and the record crowds of last year and now this year are a direct result of it. He made a point to include the students in everything. After Towson wins the team sings the fight song, since I was there. When the students rushed the field, they sang it with the team.

With the students behind the visiting team, our team running over there after wins caused several altercations. I think it could develop into a big problem if we keep winning. UNH didn't take to kindly when we ran out on the field befoer our game a couple weeks back.

The overdone entry is at the beginning. Pretty arrogant move coming from a program with no prior history of success and a crap fanbase. Don't know what's worse, the belt or Ambrose strolling out with his hands in his pockets. Some example for his players. Got what was coming. Hopefully they've learned their lesson and will have a better run next year.
