San Diego: Mario Kurn named PFL defensive player of the week

(San Diego, CA) - Senior defensive end Mario Kurn (Encinitas, CA) capped off his stellar career with 10 tackles (8 solo), 3 ½ sacks and a forced fumble to lead San Diego to a 23-14 PFL victory against Jacksonville, Saturday, and a share of its fourth PFL Championship. For his outstanding play he was named the Pioneer Football League defensive player of the week. Kurn's biggest play may have come on Jacksonville's final drive as he forced a fumble at the San Diego 27-yard line that was recovered by the Toreros and enabled them to run out the clock on their ensuing possession for the win. It was Kurn's first PFL honor this season, but the fifth defensive honor by a Torero this season, including the third straight week.
