2006 Milestone Wins

This idea came to me after looking at 89hen's thread about teams hovering around or under .500. A few I-AA teams have a chance to achieve some milestone victories this season, some more easily than others. Some of these teams will almost undoubtadly reach the milestone this season, while others may be more of a stretch. (The victory totals are pulled from cfbdatawarehouse.com, which does not have data listed for all I-AA teams, so some teams near a milestone may not be listed.)

Portland State 297-299-10 (also has the chance to pull all-time record above .500)

You forgot WM. The real question for us is which milestone will we achieve first 300 wins or 300 loses. We open with @UMD, Maine and VMI. Look like Maine will be the key to heading into he VMI game at 299-299-12 and a likely 300th victory.

On UNH site this have scanned images of there media guide which shows records and results for every season, however didnt have a grand total so i added them up myself, I will go back and double check my math to make sure I counted right.

It depends on when you start counting wins: overall or since the team's time in I-AA. If you go by the latter, I'm banking on Georgia Southern being the winningest in I-AA, but if you go by the former, it could be anyone.

GSU is 234-76-1 in I-AA.

Counting from the beginning of I-AA, Montana is 225-116-1.

Discounting the woeful first eight years of I-AA for the Griz, they're 192-65 over the last 20 years (all winning seasons).

Their best 10-year stretch was from 1993-2002, when they went 112-25 (not that anyone asked on the latter two issues, but what the hey). Not surprisingly, they were in the championship game in 4 of those years, and semifinalists 5 of the 10. The 10-year stretch from 1995-2004 had the same number of wins and only two more losses, and another title game appearance (5 in that period).

I have a feeling Georgia Southern's comparative records are better, but I don't have their numbers handy.

Interesting that one of GSU's greatest periods corresponds exactly with one of Montana's (1995-2004) -- and both teams had 112 wins during their decade!
