First of all, let's give it up for the great effort put forth yesterday by Georgia Southern, Furman, Samford and The Citadel. They indeed did a great job of representing the Southern Conference with class (unlike Vanderbilt's head coach). My prediction of GSU vs. Alabama was as close to spot on as one can get (actual final score 45-21, I had 45-24). The Citadel, Furman and Samford did better than I expected against their SEC opponents. I close out the season at 6-1 for the week, with an overall record of 50-12. The final rankings are as follows:
1) Georgia Southern - performance vs. Alabama makes them my pick to win it all.
2) Appalachian State - fought off a spirited opponent in Elon
3) Wofford - rode the train to Comeback City in their win.
4) Furman - had nothing to be ashamed vs. Florida
5) Chattanooga - oh so close, yet oh so far away (watch out them next season)
6) Samford - had nothing to be ashamed of vs. Auburn
7) Elon - closes season with a tough loss at home
8) The Citadel - had nothing to be ashamed of vs. USC
9) Western Carolina - the search for a new head coach is on
Bracket Prediction

I REALLY like your bracket. If that's the way it comes down, and I think there's a good chance of it, App could get more than one home game, AND could face GaSo again in Frisco.

I think you have to line the power rankings up like that but certainly 4 through 8 were pretty even, in fact an argument could be made that 2 through 8 were pretty darn close. Was an interesting year. Looking forward to seeing how the SoCon fairs post season.

That bracket makes far more sense than what TSN put out last night. Nice job!!!

I think your bracket is a pretty good guess as I can't really come up with anything better but I'd swap Wofford and App State in the power rankings
edit: actually there is a problem in the bracket....SHSU and UCA can't play in the second round

A great big DITTO to the remarks of BlackNGold. I looked up at the Auburn scoreboard and saw those SoCon teams' early success and got excited. I also saw the 21-16 score in the 4th quarter as Samford put a real scare into the Tigers. This was done without the services of our best RB, as Fabian Truss did not play because of an injury. Subs for Auburn? NOPE, their first-stringers had to play the whole game. Nice kudos in today's B'ham News for both Samford and GSU. Others may disagree, but I still think the SoCon is the SEC of FCS. Good luck to our playoff teams, and our Bulldogs WILL be in that mix someday sooner rather than later.

El Cid put the scare into the coots. Their message boards were full of arrogant crap all week. Their last touchdown came essentially when they should have been in the victory formation, but threw the bomb for a last minute TD.
Spurrier is a piece of crap. I hope they suffer in the BCS standings.

That's what happens when you have ZERO idea of how the system works. The Towson going to Appalachian State game was the goofiest one for me. The CAA champ having to travel to the No. 3 SoCon team?

After looking at my bracket and the official bracket, these are the takeaways:
- I got three of four first round matchups correct (7 of 8 first round participants-only missed EKU)
- I got four of five seeded teams correct (not necessarily in the correct order-missed Northern Iowa)
- Nailed who ODU/NSU's next round opponent is and correctly predicted ASU/Maine matchup in second round
